Laguna Niguel City Center: Groundbreaking This Summer 2026 – Downtown is Arriving - Ready or Not!
South OC neighbors, the City Center Project on the 25-acre former justice center site is advancing — groundbreaking is slated for this summer 2026, with pre-construction starting soon and major work later in the year.
The plan includes retail and restaurants, some creative office space, a new library branch, 275 apartment units, and walkable open areas at Crown Valley Parkway and Alicia Parkway.
It's not without controversy. Many residents have raised legitimate concerns about traffic — specifically, how 275 new homes could add pressure to local roads that already see heavy use. Others support it, seeing potential for a convenient local hub for shopping, dining, and casual outings without needing to head elsewhere.
From a real estate perspective, developments like this can influence nearby values and buyer interest over time, especially as walkability becomes a bigger draw. But it's worth watching how infrastructure handles the change — traffic impacts are a common point of discussion in growing areas.
I'm personally curious about the traffic reality once units come online, but I do like the concept of having more everyday options closer to home.
What's your view on it? Traffic worries winning out, or do you see upsides? Comment below.
